The Threshold Passages program does not end with the Rites of Passage Adventure Weekend—it has only just begun. RPAW graduates, known as JourneyMen, are invited to meet with the other JourneyMen and Mentors at JourneyMen Groups (JGroups) for a minimum of one year after their weekend adventure.

The mentoring model followed by the Threshold Passages program does not automatically assign Mentors to JourneyMen. It is within a group environment that appropriately closer Mentor/JourneyMan relationships are allowed to develop.

Although the scheduled JGroups number 26 in a year, there is no minimum attendence required. Because it's a group process many levels of time commitment are possible. This allows a variety of men to be a part of TPI, from those that rarely miss a meeting, to those that can rarely make one.

The joys of mentoring teach many things. In addition to receiving the priceless gift of the opportunity to watch these young men grow and change at so many levels, mentors learn how to listen, admire, model for and bless young men, without fixing, rescuing, offering unsolicited advice or projecting on them. Mentors have reported becoming better parents to their own children; knowing more about what it's like to be in the middle of adolescence; and how to make a difference in a young man's life.

Mentors are not unsupported. This organization is home to many men who are committed to sharing the lessons that they have learned in the process of having mentored young men over the last several years.

  • Are you afraid you don't have what it takes?
    We will help you.

  • Are you concerned you don't know how to mentor?
    We will mentor you.

  • Is your life so busy that you don't have time for our boys?
Create a little time. A little can mean a lot.

  • Do you know of a man ready to be a mentor?
    Share our program with him.

Mentoring is fun, it's fulfilling, and it is desperately needed. This is your opportunity to help young men down a successful path to adulthood. We need men to walk with them, talk with them, and model healthy masculine energies. We need men willing to spend whatever time commitment they have available, to bring these boys to our JGroup meetings. We have fun and give our young men a place where they can talk about their feelings and what's going on in their lives. This is often the only place these young men can sort out what is going on inside them. This is the most important part of our program. Is is wonderful to see the changes in the young men after even a few weeks in the groups. Step forward and make a difference. Contact us today for a challenging and inspiring adventure aimed at empowering each man to develop a mission of self, and a mission of service.
