RockStar \rok stahr\ -noun 1. A dude who can just arrive and the show is on. 2. A leader capable of processing men, JourneyMen and boys. 3. Someone who knows how to have fun. 4. A man or JMan willing to risk everything to have his dream come true. What drives teenagers, is the need to be inspired. Where do they get that? They are inspired by the risks that we take as mentors and leaders for them. We are the answer to the question: “Is there something better in the world than this teenage wasteland?” CONTACT:TPI Trainings Coordinator 303.889.2803 - Main 303.889.2811 - FAX eMail Email us here. It started in Denver Music = Connection A RockStar is an individual that can arrive at the last minute and pull off the “show” as if it had been rehearsed 100 times just prior. Maybe he did and maybe he didn’t, but this authentic performance is what allows our greatest possibilities to come to fruition. He is the quarterback that calls an audible at the line of scrimmage and with it scores the winning touchdown. He is the architect or engineer that solves a puzzle only to find that this new creation becomes a benchmark for future generations. He is the doctor willing to go outside the boundaries of known medicine, try a new procedure in the hopes of saving a life, only to be rewarded with a miracle, that is neither in a concrete form nor a documented process that can be learned by another. He is the father who beyond all measures does the best that he can in spite of what seems to be insurmountable obstacles of life, hardship, suffering and broken self, to show his children his love and affection in the face of a masculine world that is still advancing racism, chauvinism, workaholism, and the “tough guy”. RockStarCamp, is where Mentors and Leaders from around the globe learn about the ongoing 52-week JGroup Process, a group-mentoring model, which has been in effect in Colorado since 2003. The objective is to share mentoring guidelines, information and tips with mentors who are leading their communities to incorporate the JGroups process and to facilitate effective interaction between Mentors and JourneyMen (JMen).Men learn the differences between mentoring and parenting; techniques for establishing boundaries and trust with JourneyMen; methods we use to model conflict resolution and emotional literacy, and how to create a sustainable community. More importantly, RockStarCamp is an intensive training designed to bring a full year of 26 JGroups, happening every other week, for new JMen who just got off their RPAW. This work is for Mentors who are working with JourneyMen to learn more about JMen teenage systems, music, how they build community electronically and more. Our training addresses the challenges Mentors face dealing with the family system, managing the relationships of fathers and sons in JGroup, and how to manage a family system that wants the “quick fix” for their son. The human creation of music has remained consistent from our beginnings. Music has brought together man people for the greater good. Music is international, multicultural and often has no class barriers. Even the deaf can feel music. For millions of years the animal kingdom has known music. We are just learning. The RockStar is a man willing to put it out there regardless of the opinion of others because he is tapping into something more ancient than human kind. The successful continuance of masculine initiation, rites of passage, threshold passages, mentoring, and authentic leadership will continue to flourish based on the universal truth that Music = Connection. |
